Such a limited world now. Zillions of selections instantly available, but how many of us really know what we want? Albums include a selection of the artists other works, allowing for gradual change. Musicians used to introduce new works along with the old to encourage musical diversification. I wonder how the Beatles would have fared if all their music was only on 45 rpm singles. No White Album, no Revolver...
Our digital download or cloud access shortens our attention span. What we need is the equivalent of the "slow food" movement. The human brain can benefit from slowing down and fully absorbing an experience, but seems like our culture only craves a quick fix.
