Actually, it's a little joke between the OP and myself. I was over at his house some years ago to listen to his system, and one of the test CD's I brought was the Reiner/CSO MSPC. ;-)
I didn't realize the recording used in The Shining was the 1949 Karajan (Philharmonia, not BPO) - interesting. I like a lot of MSPC's myself, including Reiner, Skrowaczewski, Dorati, the recent Edward Gardiner, Ivan Fischer, Esa-Pekka. . .
