From my experience, as soon as you descend into A/B (and ABX, etc ) testing you'll leave both music an enjoyment far behind you. If you are not enjoying music while enjoying the comparison, what are you actually testing?
Sure if it's easy to do, try it and see what can be learned. But the real test for me are the lengthy listening sessions where you are relaxed and your mind is the music. YMMV.
