I just swap the A amp out and install the B amp. It's pretty easy to hear the differences among some amps while others sound similar.
For a more automated method you can use something like the Manley Skipjack. It can be used for testing source components or connected 'backwards' for testing amps. See the Manley website for detailed connection drawings
I think this device once sold for about $1000 but the current price is around $1600.
