All in all, though it's a sad reflection on the Internet as a form of casual communication. I suppose the bigger question is whether these types of people even existed before or is it a new phenomenon.
There were always vicious gossips and people who listen in on a party line, but is it the anonymity that turns people into jerks?
Google's short lived attempt to have people use their real names may have had some merit.
