Tom, thanks for your response. Have to agree most 5.1 I have heard in people's homes just didn't seem quite right.
And I have been a proponent of 2.1, good 2 channel with a sub for that little extra when necessary! Has always been satisfying.
I was thinking of using the receiver straight through, no processing from the receiver. But then I guess I'd need a separate decoder/ preamp in the chain. So, what is the point now.
Thinking out loud, wanted to get some input as to whether I was a crackpot!
