I mean if you want the latest album of somebodies that's played all over, then you really have no choice.
If you are digging for previously released material, then there have often been re-releases, especially from original analog masters, that have improved upon the original CD releases.
It's best to know what you are buying.
I only buy stuff release after after about 1998 or so. I think the digital technology has improved considerably from that time onward, especially recently, EXCEPT for low budget artists sometimes.
