For some reason, the Big Mac amp that used to be here at my local hifi shop had trouble driving their large KEF floorstanders. A much smaller and cheaper Marantz amp they in stock had no problems driving the very same speakers.
I'm not saying that the Mac amp was not great sounding (with the proper speakers), well built, and cool looking. I would have loved to have owned that amp. It's just that, autoformers or no, it couldn't drive certain speaker loads very well...
