Sorry for the delay.........was busy making Christmas pies

The Who are a tiny shadow of their former selves. They had come back quite nicely when Zak joined them. But although Moonie is greatly missed (as he should be) the death knell of the Who surely should have been the death of the Ox, as so many have pointed out. His absence means Pete plays guitar entirely differently while trying to fill in the space left behind by those missing monstrous bass runs of John's. Pino can play, but he's not well-suited for this. And Roger's voice isn't just changing registers to sing these songs - it is no longer suited to big stadium shows like these.

Yes, I'm going to see them anyway. I love Pete, I love all his songs, and it will be, if nothing else, an event.

But if I could whisper in their ears, I would propose a different sort of show to finish things off. As much as I used to deplore the late 80's and Pete only playing acoustic, I would love to see an "unplugged show" in an intimate setting. Pete playing acoustic, maybe even a touch of turned down electric, and maybe also piano or banjo or a whole bunch of other instruments he dabbles in from time to time. Roger could occasionally strum a guitar and play the harmonica. A pianist would be needed (Rabbit or whomever), and so would someone playing an acoustic bass guitar (like John did for the Bridge School concerts). Bring in Jodi Linscott on percussion (no drums) and play songs that never see the light of day anymore, like "Sunrise" and "Blue Red and Grey". Play some of their solo songs. Do a "Lifehouse" style gig with Roger assisting. Anything other than another Murderer's Row of all those songs we all know so well.

Perhaps Pete warmed to the idea of them becoming a 'circus act' as he so vividly said back in the early 70's at a filmed band meeting that was included in "The Kid's Are Alright" film by Jeff Stein. Perhaps all his royalties from American television have changed him.

Of course, your friends dying around you tends to change you, too.

But all of this is moot. The point of this post was this: the Who's official Fan Club put out a press release, part of which essentially said, "Hey, Taylor Swift is playing here two days later! It's going to be a great weekend! Come spend money!!"

One would think that the greatest live band ever, despite the death of half of the original members, shouldn't need Taylor-freaking-Swift! (or anyone else) to get people to come out and see them.

My apologies to those who think she's awesome.
