The problem IMO with 2 channel folks as they've been trained to believe that better sound is going to cost more money. Huh, there's a revolution in sound quality happening at lower price points. Other than moving to higher rez formats the "high end" offers little real for the general public to get excited about except the pride of ownership of beautiful and/or expensive audio systems. Nothing wrong with that.
I could be wrong but is it possible that a device like the pono, or some other quality portable DAP when connected to a DAC and fed to high quality powered speakers could compete sonically with 10s of thousands of dollars in front end gear?
Given quality recordings there really isn't any reason why not.
