"Obviously you don't have a clue about the headphone market"Obviously. LOL There's apparently some tiny percentage of the population which buys a lot of headphones. Maybe it's something like collecting beer mugs or elephant figurines or miniatures of this or that.
Obviously, I can't speak to a particular individual's obsessive-compulsive or collecting behavior. But I think you will agree that to have 10 or 12 sets of headphones is not "normal", unless one owns a studio and needs to have enough for everyone at the session. I have two, count 'em, two. One open back, one closed back. That's all I need.
Too bad about your friend having Ultrasones. They suck. Especially for the money they want.
Back to the point... So a guy walks into a stereo shop and wants to try a bunch of headphones. He tells the store guy that he "buys a lot of headphones". The store guy should have said "well, apparently not from here, since I've never seen you in here before".
Doc Greiner (Dr. Richard Greiner, AES Fellow) used to come into a store where I worked. We'd shoot the shit, listen to stuff, etc., and he'd buy things from us. That doesn't seem to be the case with the guy who "buys a lot of headphones". The store guy was clearly justified in throwing the troll out.
