RE: Do you consider the pro amp you're using uncolored?

The mixer is no more. I used it as a pre when I was still using vinyl. It was a rather expensive item (about £3000) made for the BBC. I bought a spare unit when they went all digital.

The equalizer replicates the original passive crossovers transfer function. Luckily without putting any nasty inductors in the signal path.

My amps are completely uncoloured. As it happens they have been co-designed/voiced by the guy who started E.A.R. with Tim de Paravicini. The other guy involved was Terry Clarke who previously founded Klark Teknik who in turn were famous for producing the most transparent audio gear available. Just not power amps until Clarke and Ian McCarthy founded MC2.
The one I use for bass came out of Abbey Roads Mastering Suite before they got paid to use lesser (albeit more expensive) Classé amps.

I've measured my system and it is +-2dB from 25-20 000Hz at my listening position.
Overall THD (including speakers) must be below 0.5% as I can fairly easily hear added distortion down to -46dB (ca 0.5%) using the Klippel test.

The end result is realistic enough that when I play songs with a ringing telephone in it people always think it is the real thing and remind me to answer it.
