I have found staff in audio shops to be helpful, engaging and very generous with their time and knowledge.
I have even been directed to other stores if that is a helpful solution.
Only once have I had a salesperson be a little condescending because of how I was dressed. I replied in kind by telling the guy I am the one who can afford what is in the shop and you are the guy that is here selling it. You do the math. :o)
But I think one negative experience is overwhelmingly outweighed by hundreds of very positive experiences.
