"Wired" IS simpler. Think it through.

Add-on: Back in 8th grade, I had the idea of modulating a light's output with an audio signal. A light-sensitive receptor at the "other end" could then reconstruct the audio from the modulated light beam. IIRC, Sennheiser later used the same principle in their wireless headphones a few decades ago.
