I hear ya, Todd!

HDCD (and XRCD, K2, Super BitMap, etc.), to me, sounds fantastic. However, for multi-channel stuff, DVD-A and SACD rule the roost. The latest Bluray music discs, for the most part, equal DVD-A and SACD sonically. And in many cases, the Bluray disc will contain both stereo and multi-channel mixes. But this is also true of DVD-A and SACD.

I have a copy of Santana's "Abraxas" (in stereo) that was done using Sony's Super BitMap process. It sounds superb. As does the multi-channel version I have on DVD-A. Since I already have both versions, I see no need to download a "hi-res" version nor do I need a Bluray copy of the same.

I guess it all comes down to how good your current versions sound...
