If you want perfect symphonic music, you go to a place like Carnegie Hall. If you want perfect classic rock or the Blues, you go to a club.The system a good club will have are high efficiency with big mid drivers, horns above 1000hz and punchy subs. You will have slam and pratt all over you like a cheap suit. Going with fru-fru audiophile speakers to achieve punchy rock can be done, but it is hugely expensive. Much better and much more economical to expand your vision, set fire to your audiophile mags, and design a system to provide the sound you are looking for.
I would not doubt for a second you are bored with your current system. Magnepans and expensive preamps are boring (for loud rock and blues).
