Often one can book a stay in a castle, such as Parador de Cardona, for not too much more than a typical overpriced tourist hotel. Make your stay memorable not mediocre.
For example a 2 night booking is $180 to $270 per night. For comparison I recently had to book a stay in Vermont and that ran $200 a night for a plain old Sheraton or Hilton.
