Reading many similar suggestions on sub in the chair, why not just set it on the floor in the listening position since ultimately, its going to be on the floor? Never understood that one.
In a no expense setup, I would go 2 maybe 4 subs. My REL never "disappeared" until it was 4 feet behind alongside the right side long wall.
Naturally my results are specific to my personal system/room.
I also don't agree on a "fixed" gain setting. Bass levels are so varied from recording to recording, I adjust mine based on whats actaully playing.
Some records are much more detailed than a cd that turning the sub down
is mandatory.
