Better sound at moderate volumes?

That is why we use McIntosh pre-amps. The comp button is flat straight up, but as the volume drops it changes the loudness curve to the way that we hear. It brings down the mids but pushes up the bass and probably the high end. So that it has the same balance at all volumes.
