consider that everything today is Dolby Digital or DTS. Consider that you need to use the identical circuit design for both regardless of the cost of the component.Consider that those chips are present in everything from a $200 AV rece9iver to a $10K processor.
A decent receiver with discrete output devices will come to well withoin 90% of the performance of the most expensive separates.
Of course if you're talking just stereo presentation, that's different.
