Ah, so you wrap yourself in the music. I was afraid you might be one of those geeks who listens for flaws in their system and attempts to deduce whether their tweeters are fabric domes or metal domes. In my initial post in this thread, I was serious when I said that I do a variety of things while listening to music, including vacuuming the carpet. But I also listen seriously sometimes. As a musician, it can be to wrap myself in the music (the 4th movement of Beethoven's Ninth can be a tear-jerker). It can be to observe the sonic and stylistic differences among various performances of the same piece. As a recording engineer, when listening to my own recordings, it can be to listen for balance issues, stereo image, EQ tweaking, ambience, extraneous noises, etc. Lastly, it can even be while I'm doing something else (not vacuuming), and tuning in on how each note is played.
In short, I'm a sound addict. There, I said it. :)
