Sometimes I'll follow the score so that I can get into a piece better, mostly for the transitions, and key shifts. The internet sure has helped there.
When I'm performing (singing) it's not at all the same. I'm focussed on what I'm doing right then and what's coming next for me to do. I can tell if we are doing, and later did, a good job, but I'm not affected as much by the whole. The difficulties are prime.
I have ABC Classic FM on nearly all the time I'm awake, and sometimes I listen actively to a piece and then go back to whatever else I was doing or something else.
I also listen to choral pieces, some bits repeatedly, to learn my part. Headphones or a damned good recording and speakers to separate out the tenor line, as it often blends in.
