RE: Is there such a thing as 3 channel stereo

Well, that was amusing. I love fantastic explanations with a germ of truth. That said, I've often wished the industry had settled on 3-channel via reel tape. Too cumbersome for the average consumer I suppose.

I've played around with my own multitracks of friends' bands, and some amazing imaging can be obtained. I also goofed around with a tightly spaced speaker array attempting to create a "reverse M-S" presentation, with phantom left & right, from existing 2-ch. recordings. It made for an interesting sonic image, but would have to have been sold with a head clamp...
