Denon 3312ci or Marantz SR 6006?

Hi,

I'm replacing an AVR that died and want to start using my Adcom GFA 6000 again. Looking to buy a refurb AVR to use as a pre-amp now and then later, use it full featured to drive my basement system. I am listening to B&W Matrix 805s.

The Denon 3312ci is $150 less expensive and has a 1 yr warranty.

The Marantz SR 6006 costs more, has a 2-yr warranty, and a phono input section that the Denon doesn't.

I will buy with AMEX and get an additional year of warranty at no cost on either unit.

Does the Marantz pre amp sound better, or is the quality of build different enough to justify the extra cash?

Reviews I have read have mentioned that the Marantz is in a slightly different class, approaching an "audiophile" piece of gear for a receiver. Perception or reality?

Thank you for your opinions.
