Now what I find interesting about that, and why I am dubious...

is that some songs are commonly misinterpreted, and in fact become popular as a result of how most people interpret them.

One example is the song "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. Usually related to as a song of loving and leaving by a partner, it in fact was written in memory of the writer's mom, who had passed away! So should we feel the same?

A member of AC/DC claims "You Shook Me All Night Long" is about a car. While it hints at that, I don't believe the lyrics support it thoughout, and doubt that is what most people think when they hear it.

To say a better system would help you distinguish such things, when the emotional response can differ if you accept the true origins of the songs, seems unlikely.

I think a good system just brings out a deeper and stronger emotional response, regardless of lyric or musical intent. I am arguing that there is no absolute meaning.
