RE: There are certain human hearing rules

The one rule you can count on is how your ear perceives the volume (sound pressure, loudness, whatever) of the sound. This is done by processing the odd ordered harmonic content. This is very easy to demonstrate BTW, and is something that is true of all humans; if you make a stereo that adds nothing in this regard it will be universally perceived as quieter/more relaxed than any system that adds these harmonics as distortion.
