"It is hard to fathom why one would choose not to own one"It's hard for me to fathom why one would want to own one. That's what answering machines are for. If it's important ... I'll call back. In an emergency ... somebody already has a cell phone. If I need to be contacted 24/7 for a period of time ... I'll buy a pre-paid and get rid of it when I no longer need it.
iPod ... nice toy ... I have no need for one. When I was younger and more mobile ... I could have used it back then.
Ipad ... I like it ... free Wi-Fi makes it an attractive option to me. I can see the need for occasional access to the net when I'm away from home ... but not enough to justify a monthly bill.
