Let me see...
I got seriously into headphones in '06, when my son was born and I realized my music room was going to be right next to his bedroom.
Since then I've had in headphones: Grado SR225, RS-1, RS-1i, GS1K; Senn HD600, HD650; Sony SA5000; AKG K1000, 701, 702, 501, 500; Ed 9, Proline 2500, Pro 2500; Denon D7000 and now have the Audeze LCD-2.
Amps: PS Audio GCHA (twice); Eddie Current EC/01, EC/SS, Zana Deux; Singlepower MPX3, Supra (caused bomb scare at the office); RSA Raptor and the Audio Valve RKV MK II.
Also have had dozens of IEMs and a few portable amps.
Most of the cans/amps have been sold off, but have the LCD-2 as my main can with the GCHA, RKV and Supra as the headamps. Also have a few other cans around that I haven't sold.
So yeah, I'd agree that headphones are great, and very enjoyable.
But then, prices of cans have continued to go up in the last five to six years. There are more +1K headphone offerings now than I can think of. All great, but definitely climbing in price.
As for head-fi, I am a frequent visitor there.
Cheers.
