RE: Audiophile Soundstage and that Big Sound

the location of your listening position and the speakers is priority 1. Make sure everything has room to breath, and begin with an equilateral triangle, then experiment with increasing/decreasing distance between speakers, and toe-in of speakers.

In my experience, getting the speakers and the listening position correct -- which may mean making your room look odd to non-music-lovers! -- makes the hugest difference. Night and day, imo.
