Back in the 60's AR staged some live vs recorded demonastrations using their 3 or 3a speakers and McIntosh or H/K Citation amps. One was with a string quartet, the other was with a pipe organ. At pre arranged points the live music would stop and pre recorded music would start, they would switch back and forth several times. Most listeners could not tell the difference, and some thought the recorded was live and live was recorded.
Now days these vintage amps would be even better with modern rectifier diodes and electrolytics in the PS
