Thanks for the post. I did get to hang out with Doc and the Pauls (S and B from Bottlehead). Doc showed me the poor smashed Otari that arrived and the mods they did to the transport. Cool stuff. They got awesome sound in their TAD room each time I was there. Matter of fact I was sitting next to David Chesky during one of the demos today and he said it was some of the best sound at the show he had heard.

I also heard stuff from the new TP series at the EAR room! They had a Technics there with Tim P. mods. Very nice sound there too.

Yes, I own Maggies too in one of my systems (1.6s) and am a fan too.. These new ones we heard were better then those by quite a margin. They use the ribbon tweeter and mid from the 20.1 in the VERY small sat and then a planar magnetic woofer to augment the bass. Incredible sound and solid down to 40Hz wit a perfect integration to the sats. Everyone I spoke to who sat through the demo raved about it.

I will try to remember all the places I saw open reel and perhaps get some pics up. Man, you should have seen the J-corder room this year! They brought about 15 beautiful Technics decks. The prices were not cheap, but the look was fantastic in person.
