One should choose carefully as to which type of coin to use due to the various materials that comprise different coins. Different materials will react in different ways regarding the transfer of (or damping abilities of) vibrations either entering or exiting the system through the stands and spikes.

Also, don't rule out non- U.S. coinage for possible usage. Again, the different materials may make a noticible difference. Also: make sure to experiment if there is a noticible audible effect in your system's sound between heads side up vs. tails side up of the coins used.

You just CAN'T be too careful in this hobby, dammit!
