I think this stuff, when played through a bad stereo, actually sounds like music that it isn't. To various degrees I can understand how people could begin to dislike this music more, as it's true character was revealled, as the stereo got better.

The fact is as the recording begins to sound better the music takes on more of it's true character and this character is what is objectionable - not the sound per se.

Of course it may indeed actually "sound" worse on some systems.

Give me rhythm or give me death!
