You're partly right, there's a lot of potential for hi-rez digital audio, by whatever name.
I'm just waiting for a playback system that does not suck.
But vinyl is not to be blamed for the zero development in audio the last quarter century. Blame that on the emergence of snake oil.
By the way, the RIAA killed off the SACD format.
