With the ghastly processing that has gone on in commercial music production (such as pitch correction and dynamic compression/loudness wars), and the gimmick technology in recent home audio products (such as asynchronous conversion and digital processing), I think adherence to the "modern" medium is what has really impeded audio progress.......

So we live in disagreement here.......
