and they were simply incredible. This was my fifth Rush concert, and like fine wine/spirits, they only get better with age. Being the consummate professionals they are, the playing was FLAWLESS. The only sign of "weakness" was when Geddy announced that they were no longer "spring chickens" and therefore needed an intermission (because they played for THREE hours). Geddy's vocals and bass playing were as good as I have ever heard (only wish he would go back to the Rickenbacker as the Fender just does not have the same wonderful "clanking" sound). Neil was simply on fire, some of the best drumming I have ever heard from anyone-a GENUINE virtuoso. Alex proved that he is absolutely the equal of anyone-more moments of the hair on the nape of my neck standing erect than I can count. All three were obviously enjoying themselves (of course, Neil never cracked a smile :) ) and the chemistry and kinship between themselves and with the audience was inspiring.
Some highlights for me (don't want to say too much and spoil the surprise) included "2112", "Subdivisions", "Far Cry", "Passage to Bangkok", the "South Park" bit, Neil's solo, Alex's solo during "Limelight", "Spirit of Radio", and well, actually THE WHOLE DAMN CONCERT!
Basically, the overall quality of the concert proves beyond any doubt that this is a band that genuinely respects and appreciates their fans-they really gave it their "everything" and made me feel even better than I already did about being such a rabid fan.
Definitely see them, even if you already have multiple times. Considering the length of the concert, quality of playing, and elaborate stage props the ticket price is a SCREAMING GOOD DEAL!
