Thanks David.Learned a lot.

I have a problem with high frequencies and I always turn the treble down to 9oclock position at home.I sometimes do this in other people's places too!!So I was wondering what I would do in a true audiophile's house who will have amps with no tone controls.Perhaps being an audiophile,he would have taken the necessary steps like sound absorbants or heavy drapes etc.I dont know but find tone controls convenient even though they are taboo in a forum like this.
