I ship to Europe fairly regularly. Crates of 30-40#. So far all places in Europe I can ship Canada Post Ground (Ocean; 4-8 weeks however!) for relatively cost effective compared to USP, DHL, etc. EXCEPT Italy. They'll take the square crate but will not take the long one I have to ship via ground shipment.
Still, if time is not a critical factor USPS ground (if they do a similar "ground" thing to CP) may be the best option.
