Mr Bill, not being much of a hillbilly fan myself, I can't say if this even qualifies. Perhaps she's "California-Hillbilly" since she comes from the Sierra foothills. Anyway, something about the "twang" in their voices seems similar to me to what you liked. I find Joanna's unique tone and funky textures rather intoxicating.
