last July I bought a very capable server type computer from cyberpowerpc (great place BTW). I chose XP Pro on purpose, which was an option, over any version of Vista.
Everything is working superbly. I have Antivir free antivirus program, Spyware Blaster, Adaware- and I have not had any trace of the security issues I once had on a previous XP system. The thing seems bulletproof.
Everything runs smoothly. All my applications work. The OS is doing exactly what an OS is supposed to do.
There is not the slightest necessity for me to move to another operating system. Microsoft needs to sell a new product to make money, so they are trying to force everyone to "upgrade."
It is a shame really. I think XP Pro is well worth the money I spent for a legal copy. Will I be forced to choose between a buggy OS or having to look for a cracked copy of XP next time I want an OS? I can find a cracked copy in about 2 minutes. I would hate to go that route however.
This really really makes me want to go back to Linux. Every application that I use is written for Windows. But Linux is a better OS.
