Hyperbaric medicine is not part of the curriculum of medical schools. There are very few doctors who have even heard of it. If you try to tell them about it, the automatically pooh-pooh it.
Thanks to the current political climate funding for medical research (via the NIH) is at an all-time low. The vast majority of medical research in this country is funded by the major pharmaceutical companies. They will only fund studies that will make them money (via patentable drugs).
It was bad enough when they used to focus their brainwashing on doctors. Now they are allowed to advertise to the general public. A huge portion of the ad revenue in mass-market magazines (eg, Time, Newsweek, et cetera) is for patented drugs. Can't sleep? Ask your doctor about Ambien! If the patent is ready to expire, then just make an "extended release" version of the same damned drug and get another 17 years of blood money. Screw 'em. (But don't forget to take your Viagra first! Or if you want to screw 'em longer, try Cialis -- it works for up to 12 hours!)
