In that case, I think we agree.
I have also been impressed with how smart toddlers can be. They don't have the experience or judgment of adults, but they are just as smart and inventive. With that in mind, I would amend my above post to caution that the fence alone is not enough. Toddlers can climb before they can walk, and are amazingly strong and creative. Mine was able to climb the fence shortly after she began to walk, by standing on a toy that she pushed over to the fence.(She could also do pull-ups to get up and balance precariously on the top of the fence ) So, you need the fence, and you need to childproof, but yes, you also need to teach and to watch them. The fence will, however, give you a few moments of lead time. Also, keep in mind that whatever you do, anything that's within reach (whether you realize that it's within reach or not ) is fair game, so even if your system is surrounded by a barrier, if it gets damaged, it's your fault, not the child's.( Hence the suggestion by a poster below to just pack up your system for a few years; that's a very reasonable way to go.) By the way, that includes crayons on the walls, floors, and carpets, etc. But just look at it this way: the damage they cause as toddlers is likely only a small fraction of what college will cost you, so don't sweat the small stuff (including a cartridge or two....)
