It seems to me that the full-blown application of such standards would bring to a halt virtually the entire world of advertising as well as any product description that departs from a recitation of bare bones specifications. It could also prevent a salesperson from saying much of anything other than something like, "Here is a (Insert brand name) amplifier. I hope you like the way it sounds."

While that possibility seems tempting, I'm not certain it is what I would want.
