Only among uncreative techie types. No, this is a misunderstanding of what ABX can prove. Though it depends on the details (are you testing one person repreatedly, or a group?) a null result in an ABX test merely demonstrates that the "something" (using your language from above to avoid semantic games) was not established by the test. To relate it to audio, it shows that in that test, audibility was not proven. That's not the same thing as proving that it's inaudible. This really is just simple logic.
