I've transferred more than a few 78s to CD via a standalone Tascam CD recorder. But it's a real time-consuming pain in the neck, so don't undertake it unless you're ready for that. No matter how you handle it, you'll be dealing with 3-4 minute record sides that have to be individually cued and baby-sat until it's time for the next one. NOT fun.
