New amp for a newbie...

Posted this message on the amp forum as well...

Hello all, I'm new to this forum, though I recall being active about 5yrs ago when I originally purchased my system. I've got the Verity Parsifal Encores, Levinson 383 Integrated, Levinson 390S, Sony SACD (forgot the model), and a Roksan turntable (the acrylic one). As you can tell, I'm fading in terms of my focus on models etc. I am, however, getting a little bored with my amp and don't feel like I'm getting all that these fantastic speakers can give. I'm tempted to try something tube like, but don't want significant maintenance. Integrated would be ideal, but I know that separates is likely where I'm heading.
I want to keep it under US$17k or so.. Any recommendations for an integrated or separates? A nice AD recommended Audio Research LS26 pre, plus HD220 amp. I'm open to the idea, but part fo the alure of the 383 was that it looked good in the non-dedicated room. The Audio Research are not pretty... I'll give up a little quality in order to get something that looks good.

Thank you in advance.
