I'm not familiar with what Verizon offers for TV service but I assume that you received a set top box from them and are using the set top box to tune into your various TV shows.
It appears that the remote code for changing channels on the set top box is the same as the code McCormack uses to power off the RLD1.
I had a similar conflict with my Plasma TV and the remote codes for the PS Audio PCA-1 preamp. I sold the preamp.
