Maybe old age threatening, but I had a scare last week with a nasty attack of vertigo followed by 24 hours of nausea, vomiting and then dry retching, unable to keep in any solid or liquid. I lost 4 kg in that 24 hours :-( Well maybe the weight loss was a good thing but not the best way to acheve it!
Took nearly a week to get over it with the only medication taken being prochlorperazine and that really did not seem to provide observable relief. The vertigo was such that motion in a vehicle precluded going for medical attention.
Did some net research on all this and the threat of deafness from Menier's disease was not encouraging. However it is anything but clear cut and self diagnosis suggests it was more like Benign Positional Vertigo as described in the paper referred to below.
It appears that vertigo is quite widespread so I'm guessing some other asylum members have also experienced it so I thought to post on the topic. As with others I already experience mild tinnitis and that appears to be a common byproduct of all this.
But the thought of progressive deafness is not a very positive after having finally achieved a very satisfying audio (and video) system. Quite an irony!!!
