I didn't say that........

Literal, literal, literal...

Don't interpret "explosions" as more than a metaphoric example......

Having fun being contrary?

Do you think that I meant to say that Kal has sad that people (audiophiles) aren't interested in HT because HT is designed for explosions? If so, - then you're haplessly nitpicking the most literal definition of what I write, - which I find absurd... I do not, and I will not continue to write in a qualifying style and language that is NOT metaphoric. I will also not continually drill down, analyze, and write down all of the exta material that it takes to over explain the position which is already quite clear.. One can simply draw a conclusion and think for a moment about the example and metaphor...I could've said in the middle of a Kung Fu fight.

The content of HT-files, or Video-files, like is widely varied. They may value Blade Runner, Animal House, Witness, Fist of Fury, or March of the Penguins, - it doesn't matter, - in most all cases, - HT is designed to "put you there" in a complete visual and audio experience that is different than high end audio: and there is ample evidence about that makes this clear.

"He has written (I am paraphrasing here) that audiophiles tend to be a codgey bunch, and not much interested in change, and surround sound represents a radical departure from how they listen to music. I am no computer expert, but I see kids I know much more adept at operating computers than those fifty plus year old people I know who never grew up with one.""

Yes, he has also said that as well. My point to further elucidate, and have you nitpick through it, - to give you some more nitpicky material, - is that he ALSO said that HT 5.1 movie sound does distract away from certain audio only surround 5.1 recordings as the nature of the rear channel information is more prominant in HT.

It is ONE of the reasons, and it IMPLIES that the goals of HT are different than 5.1 audio only, surround. It is not the ONLY reason, and I didn't say that, or imply that...

"home theater is to reproduce explosions"

It's only too obvious that I didn't mean that, but used it as a metaphor to, colorfully, describe and differentiate the two different listening experiences. So now it's time for you to say, - than why didn't you say that? Because it's much less fun.... But then, I'm sure that you're having a lovely time being a Wittgensteinian Sophist... Oh, - I think that I may have misspelled a word or two, maybe forgot a comma, please feel free to chime in and pee everywhere....

Sorry, but I'm taking my bum out from under your ridiculously probing microscope: it's a wonder that anyone is allowed to say anything at all. I'm not interested in returning to my high school English class, fun for you maybe...
