"They simply have two HUGELY different goals"
That was an opinion? Written like a declarative. A fact. If that is your "opinion", then a preface such as "in my opinion" would be helpful.
"It's my opinion that it's an immersion vs a portrayal.."
Well, the purpose of surround sound for music is also to immerse the listener. So there is no such thing as high end surround sound for music because it "immerses" you? Listen to many high end home theaters? It does not "immerse" anyone in music. The music and dialog of which I wrote comes strictly from the front channels - just like the audio system. So why would the purpose of listening to a good soundtrack as opposed to a music recording change because there is a television screen in the middle?
"Home Theatre is a different type of experience with different goals. Movie sound and being immersed inside a movie is much different than a music recording."
Maybe. But that is not what you wrote. You wrote that the purpose of home theater is to reproduce explosions. That is not the purpose among most of the people on this site, which is the demographic to which you are apparently limiting your comments. If you apply your comments to the public at large, you may be right about home theater, but then you are wrong relative to music listeners and what they look for in their audio systems.
